If you are looking to set off our garments with an embroidered design, look no further. We pride ourselves at Quiltknit on the extremely high quality of our embroidery. We use optimum stitch densities (essential for full, rich and even colours), and carefully trim every embroidery to prevent it from snagging or unravelling. The finished product is carefully checked for flaws before despatch.

Commissioning an embroidery

Commissioning an embroidery is easy -- we have a wide range of designs available, and our in-house embroidery team can both create new designs and improve on established ones.
The steps are as follows:

  1. Decide on a design. See our Embroidery Examples, below, for a few ideas.
  2. If it is a design that you think may already be in existence, contact us to check. Don't forget that adding text to an existing design is usually a simple procedure.
  3. If it is not in existence, carefully draw out your design (referring to our Embroidery Hints, below)
  4. Submit your design to us. We are happy to accept designs submitted either as hard copy (See contact us for our postal address); or via e-mail to embroidery@quiltknit.co.uk, saved as either a GIF or a JPEG file.

Embroidery Hints

To prevent any problems before they occur, we have compiled a list of hints for happy embroidery.
    Artwork
  • Artwork must be clear, and should be saved as a high-quality JPEG, in the case of photographs, or as a GIF in the case of line art. Try to keep your file's sizes to below 500Kb.
  • Keep your logo designs as simple as possible -- fine detail may be lost due to the nature of embroidering onto fabric.
  • Please provide full and comprehensive instructions as to the colours (in the case of black and white line art), size and position of the logo on the garment.
  • Logos are normally positioned on the left hand breast of a garment, but can be positioned virtually anywhere on the garment if so instructed.
  • The largest embroidery size that we can offer is 15" x 18" (38.1cm x 45.7cm). The smallest embroidery size that we can offer is 0.79" x 0.79" (2cm x 2cm). Very large logos can, of course, be split into several discrete sections, such as in the case of text. Don't forget that logos positioned on a sleeve or collar will normally be smaller than those positioned elsewhere!
  • The embroidery machines can be loaded with a maximum twelve colours. The twelve colours, however, may be chosen from a huge selection.
    Fonts
  • We have a large selection of standard fonts, and will probably already have the font you want.
  • If we do not have your font, you can provide it to us as a TrueType Font (.TTF file).
  • If you require a hand-drawn or customised font, you would need to send us a graphic of the font, or else a hard copy of it. It would require digitising letter-by-letter, which can be done but entails extra cost.
